Video Interview: Michael B. Jordan talks 'Creed'

Michael B. Jordan discusses his role in Ryan Coogler's outstanding cinematic sequel.

Michael B. Jordan reunites with Ryan Coogler, the helmed writer and director of American biopic drama, Fruitvale Station. The actor takes on the role of Adonis, the illegitimate son of the late, world-famous boxer, Apollo. Having grown up never knowing his father, Adonis is adamant about leading a successful life, knowing that boxing is the way to gain a steady and supported life. However, determined to make a name for himself, Adonis refuses to take on his father’s famous surname – that is until he meets former boxing champion, and friend of Apollo, Rocky Balboa. The duo work together to make Adonis a worthy fighter in the boxing ring and allow Rocky to return to his long-lost roots.

Creed marks the seventh instalment in the renowned Rocky franchise which has been recognised as one of the most admired and innovative in American cinema. The film has received critical acclaim, winning Stallone a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, as well as an Academy Award nomination.

Jordan trained for a year for this role, sticking to a restricted diet, fitness and training regime. The young actor is proving to be one of cinema’sbiggest talents having gained critical success for his portrayal of Oscar Grant III in Fruitvale Station and performance in the low-budget, found-footage drama Chronicle (2012).

I spoke to Jordan about taking on this iconic name as well as being the new face of one of cinema’s most beloved franchises.
